Here’s a test render with physical sun and sky and final gather. Very quick results although render settings are set at production defaults. I believe there is a lot of potential in this render system if you know how to control it well.
The challenge now would be to texture just enough for each shot. We don’t want to be detailing every corner. Every color and texture has to transit nicely along the edges, according to the tonal plan. After all, characters are most important in the shot.
I have also added a bicycle shelter to fill the background of some shots.
